The shape and characteristics of the rotor of a rotary pump

2021-02-14

Rotary pump, also known as universal conveying pump. The main reason is that it can meet the needs of different material transportation processes by replacing rotors with different shapes. Therefore, the rotor pump has the means of continuously conveying materials, regardless of whether the material to be conveyed is thin, viscous, granular, or almost non flowable. Its rotor has many shapes, and if there are many contour curves according to different types, this will be mentioned in the following introduction. Generally speaking, there are several types of rotor pumps:

Ordinary three blade type: In most cases, rotor pumps are equipped with this three blade structure of the rotor, as its three blades are distributed. It can basically meet the smooth transportation of materials under most working conditions. In the absence of special requirements, the rotor structure form is adopted, which is a common structural form of rotor pumps.

Double butterfly rotor: The rotor is assembled into a butterfly pump. A rotor pump with this structure is usually used to transport materials or fillers containing particles, and the pump is usually able to effectively transport materials with poor fluidity or materials containing particles.

Single butterfly rotor: The single butterfly pump is equipped with a rotor of this structural form, which is specially designed and manufactured for conveying materials containing large particles. Its unique shape and curved form make it more advantageous than other pumps in conveying materials containing large particles, and can effectively avoid particle damage during the conveying process.

Multi blade structure: used for multi blade pumps, mainly 4-blade and 5-blade pumps. In fact, this is also a common pump, especially suitable for conveying high viscosity materials, such as target syrup. The multi blade pump operates stably and has a lower shear force on the material, making it easier to transport viscous materials.

In addition, there are also some airfoil rotors that work on the same principle as plug piston pumps, have larger sealing surfaces, and can generate greater lift, which is another main structure of rotor pumps.
